• People are drinking less and less now,” said an hotel broker, giving evidence in the Supreme Court at Christchurch. “In fact, I think prohibition is coming, without the pe'ople having to carry it by the vote. The hotel business has slackened up considerably of late months.” He added that there had been a big falling off, in the takings of several hotels in which he was personally interested.
