THE DAIRYING INDUSTRY.
CENTRAL CO-OPERATIVE COMPANY.
CHRISTCHURCH, September 24. Matters relating to the dairying industry as a whole as well as the affairs of the company itself were discussed at the annual meeting of the shareholders of the Central Co-operative Dairy Company this morning. “We cannot get any information about prospects for the coming season,” said Mr J. W Kime, chairman of directors, in moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet “ Many of the agents and big speculators are off the market. It looks as if the whole lot vyill have to be consigned. The prices will depend on the markets. I suppose you have all been studying the papers and prices and will all be more or less resigned to low prices.” e The directors’ report stated that the balance sheet showed a credit of £13,085 13s 9d, which the directors recommended should be dealt with as follows:—To pay 7 per cent, dividend on subscribed capital at July 31. 1930; to write £1790 off buildings. machinery, plant, etc.; to make a final payment of Id per pound on butterfat supplied during the year, which would be included with the payment for the September supply; to pay a bonus on wages and salaries; the balance to be carried forward. The butter manufactured for the season was 1318 tons. The proposed final payment of Id per pound made .the average price per pound of butter-fat for the finest grade cream Is 3.62 d. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The retiring directors. Messrs 1. M'Gill, J. Parkenson. and C. Morgan Williams, were re-elected. Mr Kime was re-elected chairman of directors.
