LAKE COLERIDGE POWER.

POSITION GROWING WORSE.

CHRISTCHURCH, September 28.

No rain fell at Coleridge during the week-end, although the conditions for the past three days have been favourable for heavy rain. The wind has been steady from the north-west for the whole three days. There has been heavy rain on the West Coast, and at Arthur’s Pass, the head waters of the Waimakariri, there was good rain, but in the Rakaia basin, where the Coleridge is situated, and 40 miles away, not a drop fell. To-day conditions are nor’-west and cloudy. The position at Coleridge is now much worse than a month ago. In a normal season rains could have been’ expected from the north-west, and a month of nor’-wester season has now passed. - These winds become much less frequent after November. ■ .
