A 36-hole stroke competition for the Professional Golf Championship of '”ew South Wales entered upon the semi-final stage at the Australian links. Kensington. to-day. W. J. Clark, holder of the State title, having defeated F. Popplewell. the open champion of Australia, by 3 and 2, tried conclusions to-day with lion Spence, the young Leura professional. Spence eventually won in great style by -2 and 1. December 2. The final of the professional golf championship of New South Wales was won by Don Spence, who beat his brother, Arthur Spence. 4up and 3 to play. Both boys played great golf all the week. Don having beaten three redoubtable opponeutain Soutar, Gray, and the former title holder. Clark. To-day’s contest was brilliant from all points of view. FARRELL DEFEATS HAGEN. SAN FRANCISCO, November 30. At Santa Barbara, California, Johnny Farrell defeated Walter Hagen one up an 18-hole exhibition match.
