NETTING IN WAIMAKARIRI PROHIBITED. WELLINGTON, September 18. Mr H. S. S. Kyle has received the following communication from Sir Francis Bell (Minister of Marine): — “ After considering the representations made to me concerning netting for salmon in the Waimakariri, and your own very clear statement of the reasons against such netting, I have decided that during the comiqg season no such netting licenses shall be granted for that river. The effect can thus be ascertained definitely. It must be understood that this decision is experimental and applies only to the coming season. It is quite possible that next year it may be found necessary to authorise netting for the supply of fish to the public.”
