The movement to make Whangarei a coal bunkering port was advanced another step last week, when the chairmen of the ‘whole of the local bodies in the district passed a resolution urging the Minister of Railways to place _lOO Q wagons on the North Auckland railway for the transportation of coal where required. An influential, deputation was appointed to accompany the member for the district when waiting on the Minister. Letters received by the Harbour Board from overseas shipping to .Auckland showed that as soon as facilities were provided ships would be brought here to blinker. -. The coal supplies, are of great extent.
