FIRES.
SEVEN-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED.
TAUMARUNUI, July 31. A seven-roomed house, owned and occupied Dy Mr W. F. Deadman, at Piriaka, was destroyed by fire, with all the contents. The insurance on the house was £6OO and on the furniture £3OO in the Victoria office.
AN EARLY MORNING OUTBREAK. UARGAVILLE, August 2. A fire about 1.30 this morning badly gutted a shop occupied by Mate Peko, draper, clothier, and tobacconist. A billiard saloon at the rear of the premises escaped injury, but the sßck in the shop, with the exception ol the windows, is practically a total loss. The fire had a good hold when discovered, and the brigade made a good save. The owner, who on™ stock-taking, left the premises at 9.30, and cannot account for the outt or. P rernlses are owned by Mr J. C. Griffiths, of Auckland. The insurances, were held in the New Zealand office. 1 eko s loss is a heavy one. but the buildmg was not much damaged. The damage to the contents amounts to £92 and this is covered by a policy in the National office for £l5O, while the building is insured in the State office for
