RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. The newly-elected, executive of the Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association met for the first time on Tuesday' evening. Mr H. L. Paterson- (president) occupied the chair.

Hie nominations of eight new members, one honorary' member, two transfers inwards, one transfer outwards, and three resignations were approved. The Secretary reported that so far as could be ascertained at present there would be a debit of £l9 9s on the Anzac Day service. Appreciation of the generous help given by the public by' means of the collection at the Drill was expressed. The Secretary reported that the returns for Poppy Day were as follows — Dunedin, £559 13s 3d; Portobello, £5 4s; 'Waitati. £lO Is: Milton, £25 8s; Waipori Falls. £5 10s; Kaitangata, £l2 10s; Waikouaiti, £l3 12s; Lawrence, £l6 15s. Returns from Palmerston ami Queenstown amounting to £5O Inid still to come in. The total would therefore be approximately £698.

It was stated that the War Pensions Appeal Board had dealt with 24 cases dining its recent sitting in Dunedin. Thirteen had been upheld, six dismissed, four not dealt with, and one was held over. The Returned Soldiers’ Association had handled 13 cases, nine of which were upheld, two dismissed, one was held over, and one not dealt with.

The Chairman reported that 21 members had expressed their willingness to join a miniature rifle club if one were formed in the association.—lt was decided to call a meeting of those interested.

The president, Messrs M'Hutchon, Gordon, and the secretary were appointed the association’s delegates to the conference to the New Zealand Association.

The Secretary of tdie Otago Patriotic and General Welfare Association ’forwarded donations of £3OO towards, the Poppy Day Fund and £3 3s towards the Anzac Day service. A donation of £4 towards the Blind Soldiers’ Fund collected at the Anzac Day service at Middlemarch was received.

Headquarters forwarded a statement showing that the membership of the major associations was 'as follows:— Dunedin 1532. Christchurch 1222, Auckland 850. and Wellington 704.

The matter of reviving the Savage Club "was left to the Social Committee.

The following sub-committees were appointed:— Finance and Club Management— Messrs • MTlutchon, Forrester, and Walker.
