THE UNEMPLOYED.
MASS MEETING IN WELLINGTON. WELLINGTON, May 9. The meeting of unemployed in the Trades Hall this morning was so crowded as to overflow into the corridors. Mr Black, secretary of the Amalgamated Engineers’ Union, presided. It was 'ascertained on a show of hands that five men had been out of work for 12 months and over, 15 for six months and over, six for five months and over, three for four months and over, 22 for three months and over, and 35 for two months and over. Addresses were delivered by Mr Bromley (secretary of the District Council of the Alliance of Labour) and Mr R. Semple. Resolutions were passed agreeing to leave the affairs of the unemployed in tho hands of the District Council of the Alliance of Labour, and that a deputation should be arranged to meet the Prime Minister and the Mayor.
