ST. KILDA BEACH CARNIVAL.

A SUBSTANTIAL PROFIT. A general meeting of the St. Kilda Beach Improvement Carnival Committee was held last week for the purpose of receiving the balance sheet of the carnival held in March last.' Mr C. Conn occupied the chair. In submitting the balance sheet, which showed a credit balance of £1139 12s 6d, Mr Conn said that such a result was highly creditable to those who had worked fST willingly to make the carnival a success. There had certainly been mistakes, such as were inevitable in any such enterprise, but there was no doubt that these could be turned to good account when the next carnival was held. Of the amount in hand, £lOOO was on fixed deposit in the National Bank in the names of the treasurer (Mr W. G. Griffin) and himself, the remaining £139 12s 6d being left in current account. In the course of a week or so, it was probable that a meeting of the St. Kilda Beach Improvement Soceity would be held, and as soon as the society became an incorporated body the full amount would be handed over to its trustees. In conclusion, Mr Conn thanked all those who had assisted, mentioning specially the Dunedin City Council, the St. Kilda Borough Council, the Domain Board, the secretary (Mr J. W. Dove), and the treasurer.

The following is a summary of the balance sheet: —
