The pioneer from whom the gold mining town of Nelson Creek derives its name, Mr Chris. Nelson, who ‘is over 90 years of age, was present at the jubilee dinner at the Old People’s Bime in Greymouth (reports tho Nelson Evening Mail). Mr Nelson was one of tho most experienced prospectors who ever panned a dish of washdirt on the Coast, and won the first gold got from Nelson Creek.
