By Act of Parliament last session the constitution of Napier Harbour Board was amended to provide for two members, instead of one to represent the Borough of Hastings. The election for the extra representative resulted in the return of Mr J. S. M'Leod, managing director .of Messrs de Pelichet, M'Leod, and Co., and also president of the Chamber of Cc-m--mcrce, by a sweeping majority, the polling being; Mr M'Leod 1010, Mr H. lan Simson 272.
