CHARGE AGAINST MOTORIST. HAWERA, March 9. George Cravy Smith pleaded not guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial on a charge that' while in a state of intoxication he drove a motor car near Mokoia on February 24, causing the death of E. Millicent Elizabeth Richter, a fanner’s wife, aged 42. The police alleg’d that Smith was drunk. A passenger in the car admitted that the car had struck a woman. The time was 7.15 in the evening and it was broad daylight. Mrs Richter was rendered unconscious and died in the hospital the following night.
