TREATMENT OF LEPERS.
GOOD WORK AT MAKOGAI STATION. WELLINGTON, August 16. The Department of External Affairs has received a radio message from the captain of the Hinemoa stating that 29 additional leper patients had been desembarked at the Makogai leper station. These patients were taken from various islands in the Cook Group and other Island groups, and in accordance wily medical advice would be segregated on Alakogai Island, where they would receivethe special medical treatment and nursing care which has proved so successful in the in restoring cases to health when •>aken at an early stage of the disease. There are another 30 patients still to be transported to Alakogai. The natives who have returned cured to their homes have reported so favourably of their treatment at the Afakoga. leper station that there is not now so much difficulty in inducing fresh cases to go to the station for medical attention.
