“If ever a man died because of the work done for his fellow soldiers Dr Boxer was that man,” said Lieut-Colonel Holdcrncss at a returned soldiers’ re-union at Taradale recently when paying a special tribute to the services given by the late Dr E. Boxer, of Hastings (states the Hawke’s Bay .Tribune). “ When I last spoke at Hastings on the matter of the R.S.A., Dr. Boxer, an ardent worker of the association, was dying and since has passed away,” continued Lieut-Colonel Holderness. “His funeral took place at Dunedin, where he was buried with all honours that were due to him. He died simply and solely from the result of the work he did on Gallipoli and through the work he did ungrudingly for the returned men—work in which he lost incalculably in the world’s goods.”
