“Tire lowest price at which copper wire has been bought in New Zealand for years,” commented Mr 11. F. Toogood, consulting engineer to the Poverty Bay Power Board, in reporting upon the placing of an order for 70 miles of copper wire for the board (states the Poverty Bay Herald). The base price of copper had fallen for a short time below 9d per lb, and the opportunity of placing the order was too good to lose. The wire had been ordered at £6O 5s per ton. which was £7 5s better than tire price paid for the last lot.
