JUBILEE OF THAMES.
THAMES. August 2. The jubilee of Thames was celebrated in good weather. Notable visitors were Mr G. J. Anderson (Minister of Labour), Mr W H. MTntvre. M.L.C., Mr J- Linklater, M.P., Mr J Horn. M.P.. Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P., and Mr G. W. Forbes, M.P. Many apologies were received from ’ other members of the House. There was a tremendous influx of old pioneers and identities into the town, and it is estimated that the crowds yesterday totalled over 10,000. - The chief features of the celebrations were the presentation of a gold mayoral chain to the Mayor (Mr W. Bongard) and a combined thanksgiving service on Sunday, at which nearly 1500 persons were present, the church being packed. Yesterday there was a monster procession, a sports reunion, and a dinner to the pioneers, most of whom are remaining here for a few days enjoying the renewal of old friendships.
