A RUMOUR CONTRADICTED.

MR GROUNDS AND DAIRY PRODUCE FIRM. AUCKLAND, July 29. A rumour that Mr W. Grounds' (chairman of the Dairy Produce Control Board) had been appointed New Zealand representative of Jilessrs A. J. Mills and Co., Ltd., a large British firm of dairy produce importers, has been emphatically and officially denied both by the organisation named and by Mr Grounds himself. In a telegram to the New Zealand Herald, Mr Grounds said: “No truth whatever in the report. I represent the producers only.’’ Mr W. W. Boker, who hag represented Messrs Mills and Company in Auckland for the past 12 years, referred the rumoured appointment to his principal, receiving a cablegram advising that the statement was incorrect, and saying that it would probably be contradicted by Mr Grounds. It is considered that the rumour may have had its genesis in a northern marketing scheme, .which Mr Grounds is understood to have been endeavouring to launch, albeit so late in the year that many factories have already made arrangements for the disposal of. their 1927-28 produce. Messrs Mills and Company have been named as one of the suggested channels of distribution under the proposal, and this has probably led to the assumption that Mr Grounds was to assume control of the Dominion agency.
