BUYING NEW ZEALAND BUTTER.
TRAINING THE PUBLIC. LONDON, June 18. Mr John Booth, of Kumara, who is visiting this country, is naturally interested, like all other New Zealanders, in the sale of New Zealand butter In the course of his travels he has tried to buy it at the shops. Sometimes he has succeeded, and sometimes failed. “Recently in Yorkshire,” he said, speaking of his experiences, “I asked for New Zealand butter. The Maypole Dairy people said they did not keep it so I went to Liptons and got it. L'he latter firm told me I could have it by asking for it. Some time ago I isked the Bursleni' Co-operative Society iLongton): “Do you not keep New Zealand butter?’’ ‘Yes,” they said, *we have it here under the counter.’ Two tubs of Danish were on the counter labelled nrominently.” Mr Booth maintains that the solution lies in training people to ask for New Zealand butter, and he makes the following suggestion : — “Let every New Zealand trader buying goods in England be supplied with a quantify of show cards with the inscripI tion : 'Buy New Zealand butter. Get
them to send these to the manufacturers from whom they buy goods, asking the manufacturers to hang them in the workrooms and factories. Results will follow.”
