THE RIGHT OF REVALUATION. A MINISTERIAL STATEMENT. NELSON, July 26. The Minister of Lands (Mr A. D. M'Lcod) paid a visit to Tapawcra yesterday, where he met a large gathering of Crown tenants. Referring to. a petition from a number of lessees that their rentals were too high, the Minister stated his intention to bring down legislation during the present session giving every Crown tenant the right of re valuation. With this in view, it was pro posed to set up a permanent revaluation board, consisting of the Valuer-general, the Under-secretary of Lands, and the Land Purchase Controller Under the present Land Act a lessee has the right of revaluation not earlier than three years or later than six years after the commenceme.nt of the lease. The Minister reiterated the Government’s policy, which was to assist the trier to the utmost limit the law allowed. The meeting carried an enthusiastic vote of thanks to the Minister for his visit.
