A BIRD OF PASSAGE.
VIOLENT ASSAULT COMMITTED. CHRISTCHURH. July 27. When Ralph Theodore Lloyd walked into the Salvation Army Home last night, he pulled the blankets off Henry Clark, who was sleeping- there, struck Clark three times on the jaw, and then set about t-o throttle him. Sub-inspector Matthew told Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., the story of the attack at the Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Lloyd was charged with assault. “He is a bird of passage,” said the sub-inspector. The accused pleaded guilty, stating that he was drunk when the offence was committed. He had been working, and was a ship’s fireman. . Llovd was convicted and fined £o, m default 14 days’ imprisonment.
