WEATHER SUMMARY.

MONTH OF FEBRUARY. RAINFALL ABOVE AVERAGE. The rainfall in Dunedin for the month ended on Monday was considerably above the average. Records compiled at the Musselburgh pumping station show that the total rainfall for February was 3.48 in c ?.‘»Pared "the average fall in January or 2.3 am. On two or three of the 15 days ,-n which raim-fell the fall was over hair an meh, and on Sunday last the heaviest downpour was recorded for the month the figure being ,980 in. The largest spell of dry weather was from February 1~ to x 7, after wh.eh there were six days in succession on which rain 'fell, the heaviest fall' being on February 18, when -760 m was recorded. Towards the end of the month the mercury dropped, twice falling below *O. on the 20th and the 23rd. From February 18 to 28 the highest temperatu. was 59 and the lowest 39. The barometer readings varied very little during tlie month. During the first 10 days the barometer hovered between 29.35 and 30.02. The highest reading in the succeeding days was 30.06 and the lowest 29.51. On the 23rd and the 24th the glass went up to 30.04 and 30.06 respectively, returning to the vicinity oi 30.00 at the close of the month.
