DIOCESE OF AOTEAROA.
APPOINTMENT OF BISHOP. ROTORUA. March 2. At a meeting held yesterday at Ohin.>mutu,, under the chairmanship o'f the Commissary of the Diocese of Aoteroa, the Rev. F. A. Bennett, which was attended by delegates of the Maori Synod of Aoteroa, the following resolution was passed:— The Conference having before it tlio opinions expressed by high dignatories of the Church, and of authorities on church law. reaffirm the resolution that was passed at the Conference held in Wellington on August G, 192 G. The members of the Conference, while divided in opinion as to whether the appointment of a pakelia or a Maori as first Bishop of -'Aotearoa would be the wisest course, nevertheless recognise that in the unanimous opinion of the Maori people a member of the Maori race should be appointed to that high office. The Hon. A. T. Ngata and the Rev. F. A. Bonnett were appointed to consider the financial arrangements.
