PEACE OF THE WORLD.
BRITISH AND AMERICAN FRIENDSHIP. jf . AUCKLAND, March 1“I have no hesitation in saying that the feeling of friendship and goodwill between the people of the United States and those of Australia and New Zealand is steadily growing,” said Mr J. Howard Ellis, assistant manager of the National Bank, Honolulu, who arrived by the Tahiti to attend the Rotary Conference, which will be opened at Auckland to-morrow. As a resident of Honolulu Mr Ellis ha» made a study of the relations between the nations bordering on the Pacific, his professional duties bringing him into close contact with prominent people visiting Honolulu. He stated that he had observed a much better understanding and greater readiness to foster friendship between the American and the British peoples, and this, he thought, was a very hopeful sign for the future peace of the world. Mr Ellis will speak at the conference on the sixth object of Rotary: The advancement of understanding, goodwill, and international peace throughout the world, and the fellowship of business and professional men united in the Rotary ideal of service.
