OPIUM DEN RAIDED
AUCKLAND, March 5. As a sequel to a police raid on a Chinese opium den in Grey street, a young Chinese, Du Poy, the proprietor, was fined £55 in the Police Court. The doors were heavily barred, and the house was specially fitted out for opium smoking. . Chief Detective Cummings stated that the den was apparently run on wellorganised . lines. Clasps were ready for placing Bin bars on all doors, and an elaborate electric bell system was in. operation.
