RETAIL WATCHMAKERS.

AUCKLAND, February 1. The tenth annual conference of the New Zealand Retail Watchmakers and Jewellers’ Association was opened by the Deputy Mayor (Mr J. Warnock). The president (Mr T. P. Williamson, of. Dunedin) occupied the chair, delegates being present from all parts of the Dominion. Mr M. M. Hinemapn asked whether it would be possible for Mr Warnock to bring the question of itinerant auctioneers before the forthcoming Municipal Conference. The Jewellers’ Association had been making strenuous efforts since 1924 to have the Auctioneers Act amended.. There was no necessity for him to detail -drawbacks from which the jewellers suffered as the result of sales by itinerant auctioneers. The report of the Executive Council stated that there had been a gratifying -increase in the membership during the past year. The finances of the association were satisfactory.
