UNFULFILLED THREAT.
FREEZING WORKERS’ BLUFF. FEILDING, January 25. The union butchers at the Feilding freezing works to-day tried a bluff which did net succeed. This morning 28 held a meeting and later informed the chairman of directors (Mr J. G Cobbe) that unless the 12 volunteer butchers still employed were dismissed at once they would cease work. Mr Cobbe at once informed the butchers that the volunteers who had come to the help of the company and the farmers would not be dismissed. The company immediately called for more volunteers, and posted a notice telling the strikers to collect their, wages. Ihis afternoon, however, a deputation from the butchers again waited on Mr Cobbe and stated the men would carry on as usual.
