To increase our imports without increasing exports would add very substantially to our financial difficulties, and there would be an increased number of unemployed (says ■ the Manawatu Standard). There is only one safe policy, and that is to grow sufficient wheat for our own requirements; but it should be realised growers can continue in business only by receiving a price for their grain that will cover the cost of production and give a reasonable interest on the capital invested.
