ALLEGATIONS OF FRAUD.

AN ACCOUNTANT CHARGED. LARGE SUM INVOLVED. CHRISTCHURCH, July 13. Charged with failing to account for a large sum of money, Cyril Tollman Mosley, a well-known Christchurch accountant, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day befo e Mr H. A. Young, S.M. The charge was that on June 23, 1925, Mosley received the sum of £3OO from E. M. Heyward on terms requiring him to account for or pay it to Messrs Seafield (Ltd.), and he fraudulently omitted to do so. Chief Detective T. Gibson asked for a remand until July 22, which was granted. In asking for bail, Mr R. Lascelles, w.ho appeared for accused, said that Mosley was a well-known public accountant in the city, and there was nothing previously known against him. Counsel had not had the opportunity of investigating the charges so far, but as accused had a wife and family he did not think there would be any reason for refusing to allow bail. Chief Detective Gibson: The theft is £I2OO, sir. That is an important part of it. Bail was allowed in accused’s own recognisance of £SOO and one surety of £SOO.
