AUCKLAND HOSPITAL.
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST CONDUCT. WELLINGTON, July 5. Allegations of extra vaneanee and improper management have led to the appointment of Mr Alexander Gray, K.C., Wellington, as a commission to inrestiCthe conduct of the Auckland Hospital d’s affairs. Lack of care, co-operation, and diligence among the officers and servants of the board are among the allegations made. The commissioner is asked to decide whether there has been insufficient consideration, negligence, unnecessary expenditure, extravagance or waste by the board, its members, officers, servants or agents sinee June 18, 1917. Several specific matters are mentioned in the order of reference, including alterations, additions, equipment, location of new buildings, tenders and payment for contracts, more particularly the erection of the Wallace block of the general hospital, the new nurses home, the Auckland Infirmary, the laundries and the re-modelling of the Coatley ward.
