Pumice houses have been erected in v .rious parts of the Dominion, and a Gisborne resident has chosen that material for his home. The question came before the Gisborne Borough Council recently, when the engineer stated that, as the proposed pumice house was rather in the nature of an experiment, he thought he should place the facts before the council. After considering the proposal the council decided unanimously to grant the application. That he would rather drive in, or cross, a street of London than one of Christchurch was a statement made by Mr M. S. Brown, who recently gavo & talk on his travels to members of the Canterbury Automobile Association. This was because the Loudon traffic was so well controlled, In Christchurch motor cars were stopped by the constable on traffic duty, but bicycles were a pest.
