SUMMER SPORTS.

ANNUAL STATISTICS. WELLINGTON, July 5. The annual statistics of summer sports does not show any difference in order* from previous years. Horse racing in all forms is still stronger, with galloping 17,907 members and trotting 7158. Lawn tennis is next with 23,319, bowling 15,200, cricket (stated to be incomplete) 6670, as against 10,831 given last year, and swimming 7120. Racing is practically the same. as before, though Hunt Clubs are not included this year. Large increases are shown in lawn tennis and swimming, probably because the returns are more complete. Racing owners number 4903, trainers 1492. jockeys 1597, and horses 5142.
