OUTRAM CATHOLIC CHURCH.
The Outram Roman Catholics were favoured with beautiful weather on the 23rd for the laying of the foundation stone of their new church, which is being erected on a section facing the main street of the town. The ceremony was performed by Bishop VVhvte, who was assisted by the Rev. Father Collins, Adra., Dunedin, the Rev. Dr O’Neill, rector of the parish, and the professors of Holy Cross College, Mosgiel. Members of the Hibernian Society from Dunedin arid Mosgiel were present in regalia as a guard of honour. The address appropriate to the occasion was delivered by Bishop Whyte. He gave many details concerning the life of St.
Teresa, to whom the church n to be dedl* cated. The Rev. Dr O’Neill read details of th« finances in connection with the buildiqg \ scheme, and Father Colline, who had been a ' previous rector of the parish, referred to the steps taken in the past to raise funds, and concluded with an appeul to those pro- - sent to furnish the remaining amount neceasary for the building. The building will be completed about tho beginning of September, and should make a handsome addition to the buildings of tha * township.
