WEEKLY MARKET REPORTS. Burnside, Wednesday, February 24. Fat Cattle.—There were 257 head yarded, these comprising some very well finished prime bullocks. A consignment of 35 North Island bullocks of extra good quality were included in the entry, the balance of the yarding being made up of light-weight steers and heifers. As the number proved in excess of requirements a drop in prices took place, heavy-weight cattle being back about £1 per head, while light-weights were back about 10s per head. Extra prime bullocks brought up to £lB 10s, prime from £l3 10s to £l7, medium £ll to £l3, light £9 10s to £lO 17s 6d; prime cows and heifers from £7 10s to £ll ss, medium £5 10s to £7 ss, light and inferior £3 10s to £5 6s. Store Cattle.—There was a medium yarding of store cattle, numbering 832 bead. Fat Sheep.—There was a small yarding, 1607 being offered. The quality waa not as good as late yardings, about half being composed of medium ewes and light-weight wethers, extra prime wethers being in short supply. A 9 the number forward waa short of requirements a very good sale resulted for all prime, well-finished sheep and prices for this class were up anything from 2 a to 3s per head, but for medium, plain ewes, and light-weight wethers there was very little alteration compared with last week.
