It is understood that General Motors (Limited), of Detroit, who have recently commenced the building of a factory covering five acres in Wellington, will establish a depot in Timaru (says the Post). It is also understood that they have acquired premises on the long rail way 3iding near the end of North street. A student of the -Westport School of Mines (Mr Clifton), a trucker at Miller ton, has been successful in obtaining the School of Mines Scholarship. This entitles him to £65 a year, three years* free tuition at the Otago University, and return travelling fare to Dunedin (reports the Grey River Argus). The Adelaide Zoo, having surplus in some of its original lines, has offered two giraffes, a rhinoceros, and a buffalo to the Auckland Zoo for a sum approaching £2OOO. The price is considered by authorities to be too .high (reports the Star), and the Parks Committee of the City Council has been instructed to negotiate with Adelaide and see if a better bargain can be made.
