(FOOTBALL TOURS. Apropos of the forthcoming visit to New South Wales, the Auckland Star in its editorial columns has the following comment on football tours in general“ The fact that members of the All Black team of last year are eligible for the visit to New South Wales, that two have already been dominated, may cause some New Zealanders to question the wisdom of frequent tours. The original intention was to send to Australia an entirely new team, and though it is desirable that the team should be strong, we think that it would have been better to keep to this decision. At the annual meeting of the Rugby Union the president (Mr H. Frost) made some pertinent remarks about the wisdom of not sending teams Home frequently. If, however, members of this team are included in the party for Australia they will be travelling again within a few months of their return from a long trip. For the sake of tne players themselves this sort of thing is not desirable. It must interfere with their careers. It is also a bad example to boys and young men, because it sets before their eyes excessive rewards in a game and creates false values. Apart from this question of the inclusion of All Black players, the policy of tours abroad should be carefully considered. It can easily be overdone. There are men who make a practice of not letting business interfere with bowls, or racing, but young men should not be encouraged to think that footall is an occupation.” NEW SOUTH WALES RUGBY TEAM. LONDON, May 6. The Star predicts that the New South Wales Rugby Union will be invited to send a team to tour Great Britain in 1927. It is stated that New South Wales is likely to have the next invitation, but nothing definite has been arranged. Mr J. Noseda, the secretary of the New South Wales Rugby Union, states that information has been received from the English representative of the union, Dr L. G. Brown, that a fhotion wag tabled by the English Rugby Union to the effect that the next invitaion for a tour of Great Britain should be sent to New South Wales. NEW SOUTH WALES TOUR.
