POST-CARD WEEK.

MESSAGE FROM 111! MASSEY. WELLINGTON, May 17. The following mesage from the Prime Minister on the occasion of Postcard Week, which has been inaugurated in order to assist the Empire Exhibition now being held in England : —- A movement has been inaugurated by the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce} who are asking the citizens ot the dominion to send postcards to their relatives and friends in the united Kingdom, resquesting them to visit the Exhibition, and particularly urging them to inspect the New Zealand Court. According to reports which have reached ns during the last few weeks, the New Zealand Court is thoroughly representative of our principal industries, both the primary and secondary products of our fields, forests, and mines. Opportunities for sport, both by land and water, and the characteristics of the native race of New eZaland, on account of the visit of the Imperial Special Service Squadron, has been before the public in Great Britain just recently, and I have no doubt more than usual interest will therefore be taken in this country, which claims, and with reason, that it is more typically British than any other of the overseas countries of the Empire. “Postcard Week” is a great opportunity to advertise New Zealand, and give our kinspeople at home an idea of what the dominion can produce, and what has been achieved here during the last threequarters of a century. We want them to understand that New Zealand is particularly suitable to be the home of an important section of the British races, and that though we are separated from them l\v many thousands: of miles of ocean, there is no British characteristic in which its people are deficient. I sincerely hope that the public of New Zealand will take full advantage of the occasion during the coming week, and that a wholehearted and enthusiastic response will be forthcoming, both on the part of our people here, and also our fellow-citizens in great Britain. (Signed) W. F. Massey.
