ILLEGAL SALE OF LIQUOR.
WANGANUI, July 16. In the adjourned case before Mr Barton, S.M., to-day, Levin and Co. were fined £3 for supplying liquor to Wong Hall, under the age of 21 years. The case was a sequel to the recent police raid, when a quantity of liquor was seized on Wong’s premises. The magistrate said the fact that such a quantity of liquor was found on Wong’s premises in comparatively so short a time led him to the conclusion that a '“shut-eye” policy had been adopted in regard to the sale. It vias stated by counsel that this was the first case against the firm’s local branch, and that a wholesale license had been hold for 35 years.
