DUNEDIN POULTRY CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Dunedin Utility Poultry Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr T. H. Dalton presiding over a large attendance. The chairman, in his opening remarks, said the club had been the means of instruction to many of the members, and he thought that much benefit had been gained from the addresses given during the year. The amount of information imparted during discussions and question nights was very considerable, and Mr Sprosen especially had been a great help by answering questions. In one particular the club had done good w'ork, and that was in the education of judges. Three of the members —Messrs F. ft. Hanson, J. J. Jowsey, and R. W. Coombes—had been brought forward, and had judged at shows, giving very great satisfaction. Referring to the balance sheet, Mr Dalton pointed out that it showed the club to be growing,

and he congratulated the secretary on the state of ihe club’s finances.

The following is a summary of the annual report : —‘ Tile year commenced with a balance of 6s 6d and now stood at £l4- 14s td, and this notwithstanding that over £5 had to be paid on the previous year’s working expenses. A donation of two guineas hail been made to the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club also. During the year the club had in augurated two 10-guinea trophies, each to be won three times, one to he competed for at the March Young Bird Show and at the Dunedin Fanciers’ June Show; one for light hreeds, in which Mr H. L. Sprosen had gained two wins; and the third for heavy breeds, Mr F. G. Hanson and Mr T. FI. Dalton each having won it once. During the year one cf the members lost part of his poultry plant by fire, and the club had ra sed by subscription the sum of £9 14s 6d for his assistance.”—The report was adopted. The following were elected officers for the ensuing year:—Patrons, Mr H. P. Harvey and Mr Robert Mills; president, Mr T. 11. Dalton; vice-presidents—Messrs R. W. Coombs, F. G. Hanson, H. L. Sprosen, J. Rattigan, and P. Shackloek; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. V. Sturmer; committee —Mrs Y. M. Heazlewood and Messrs J. Sanders, J. J. Jowsey, Morris Hill, and J. Crooks. It was decided to hold the monthly meetings on the last Thursday in each month. A vote of sympathy was aecoided Mr Robert Mills on the death of his mother. Mr Coombes gave notice that he would move at the next meeting that the minute referring to gold medals in connection with the 10-guinea trophies passed at last meeting be rescinded. It was decided to hold a committee meeting to arrange a syllabus for the year.
