ADDINGTON MARKET. ADDINGTON, July 18. At Addington market the yardings were smaller in all classes, except in fat sheep, and there was an improvement in both beef and mutton values. Business in the stock market continues on a modest scale. The demand for good young breeding ewes in lamb remains unsatisfied, and likely to so continue, for that class >f sheep are not for sale. Indeed, the number of ewes in lamb of any description worth buying is comparatively small. At tms week's market sale only four pens of ewes were offered, and these were mostly aged. Mixed-sex and eight-tooth realised 36s 6d, but the others went at from 143 Id to 20s 4d. Privately a line of mixed four, six, and eight-tooth ewes was placed at 3Ss Gd and a line of failing-mouthed found a buyer •» + 253 6d. Hoggets, especially ewes, are good selling property, and under the hammer these have realised from 28s Id to 2Ss lid. Sales of mixed-sex hoggets have been made by private treaty at from 24s to 265. There has been little doing in store sheep, the only sales reported being forward wethers at 3ls and hill wethers at 21s. All the business in fat sheep has beep done by private treaty, and the prices have been as follows: "Wethers, from 33s 6d to 365, ewes, 235; lambs, 29s to 31s. There was nothing worthy of mention in the way of cattle at the weekly market, the fact to be recorded being that a fair s ; zed yarding of dairy cattle failed to command much respect, and reduced prices had to be accepted to effect a clearance. Sales of cattle by private treaty have been made at the following prices:—Fat bullocks, £lO to £l2; three-year-old fat steer 3, £9 to £11; fat cows, £6 to £8; fat heifers, £4 to £7; mixed three and four-year-old store steers, £5 to £6; two-vear-old steers, £2 10s to £3; mixedsex yearlings, 30s; calves, 10s to 15s; young and sound dairy cows at profit, £8 to £lO, and up to £l2 for extra quality; three-year-old heifers at profit, £6 to £7; two-year-old heifers at profit, £4 to £4 10s. SOUTHLAND MARKET REPORT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) INVERCARGILL, July 20. Stock. —The local market is much about the same, prices still having a filming tendency for all classes. The following prices may be quoted: Fat Cattle.—Extra prime ox beef, from 30s to 32s 6d per 1001 b; heifer, from 22s to 24s 6d; cow, from 17s 6d to 20s; extra prime bullocks, from £l3 12s to £ls 15s; ave«i£7', £9 10s to £l2 12s 6d; light and unfinished, £7 10s to £8 7s 6d; extra prime heifers, from £7 12s 6d to £9 10s; average, from £6 to £7; lighter sorts, £4 K>s; extra prime cows, up to £8 12s 6d; average, from £5 10a to £6 7s 6d; lighter sorts, £3 7s 6d.
