EDMOND CUP STEEPLECHASE. ANGLICAN CLUB WINS TROPHY. The weather was ideal on Saturday afternoon for the Edmond Cup Steeplechase, an event which is competed for annually and which is one of the principal events in the New Zealand harrying world. The runners had the advantage of a calm day, but they were severely handicapped by the heavy nature of the course, which was duo to the- recent rain and the race meetings of last week. There was a fair attendance of the public, but the absence of a number of prominent officials of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was particularly noticeable. THE COURSE. Tho race, which was run over a mile and a-half course, was held under tho auspices of the Dunedin Harrier Club. The course was as follows :—Commencing opposite the south end of the grandstand, the field ran north to the sod wall, then over the post-and-rails and the rail fence along the ordinary steeplechase course. It then led along the back straight, missing the brusli fences, over the ditch and the post-and-rails at the south of the course, across the water-jump, round the outside rail, running on to the course proper and up the straight past the grandstand. This course had to be covered twice, but this year, as there had been ice at the water-jump, the ditch had only to be cleared on the first round. Five teams —the Dunedin Anglican Harriers No. 1 and 2, the Pacific Harriers,_ the Caversham Harriers, and the St. Patrick’s Club —comprising 51 men, faced the starter, put several runners withdrew during the first round. This year llie Olympic Club, Wellington, did not have a team on the field. Individual Result. W. H. B. Hobbs (Pacific) 1 J. Tapp (Caversham) 2 C. W. Frye (Caversham) 3 F. White (St. Patrick’s) ... J.
