M'CONACHY DEFEATS BURTENSHAW. The final session of tho billiard match between Clark M'Conacliy and C. Burtenshaw was completed in the Octagon parlours before a good attendance on Saturday night, ending in a win for tho New Zealand champion by 262, with a break of 41 unfinished.
Both men took some time to settle down, and neither played up to form during the game. M'Conacliy was in hand with a break of 12 when the match was resumed, and he made it 50 with all-round play. He next went for a. six and then, with nursery cannons at the bottom of the table, he ran up to 83 before missing an easy in-off. tor some time his play was uninteresting, then he put on a 133, a 212, and 17G (off the red), making the game, with his last break, stand at 3683 all. After this he piled up the points, as in the breaks of 133 and 212, mostly by nursery play. His average was 31.2. Burtenshaw, whose score stood at 3536 to M'Conachy’s 3000 when the match was resumed, was never very happy, and he did not manage to get out of the 30’s. His average was 14.5.
