EX-KAISER’S MARRIAGE. LONDON, January 26. A telegram from Doorn alleges that the ex-Kaiser’s marriage is a complete failure. He and his wife are living in different parts of the castle. The ex-Kaiser was affected very unfortunately by the gland transference operation, which he underwent before bis second marriage. His own children have not forgiven his second marriage, and his stepchildren avoid him. His means are 60 reduced that his private expenditure has to be strictlv limited. GERMAN BUDGET DEFICIT. BERLIN, January 26. In introducing the Budget for 1923 Herr Hermes (Minister of Finance) stated that the deficit was between 1400 and 1600 milliards of marks. MARTIAL LAW IN BAVARIA. BERLIN, January 27. The Bavarian Government has proclaimed martial law in order to prevent the Socialists from holding meetings against monarchism. REICHSBANK’S BAD YEAR. BERLIN, January 26. The Reichsbank has declared a deficit of 1600 milliards of marks. DISASTER IN NEWSPAPER OFFICE. A terrible disaster occurredrin the office in Berlin of the Berliner Tageblatt. A newly-built top storey collapsed, and crashed through the building to the cellar. Already 20 dead have been recovered. Many others are seriously injured. The editorial and machinery rooms were totally destroyed.
