EMPIRE SETTLEMENT SCHEME. LONDON, January 25. Sir James Allen reports that the nominated scheme is unlikely to provide 10.000 immigrants for New Zealand in the coming year. Of 8691 last year 4793 went free under the British overseas settlement scheme. It is desirable thaC nominated applicants should number 250 per month. Lower passage rates and better conditions in the dominions may improve matters. DOMESTICS BY THE CORINTHIC. LONDON, January 26. Thirty-five domestic servants are travelling by the Corinthic under the New Zealand Government’s immigration scheme.
