GROWN COLONIES
SIX GROUPS TO HE CREATED. ftLOXDOX, September 13. Desiring to meet the Crown colonies’ repeated requests to the Colonial Office lor a greater share in the control of local affairs, especially financial. Air Churchill proposes to create six groups of Crown colonies according to their geographical positions, each group to be administered by a High Commissioner, assisted by a council, partly elected and partly nominated bv vested interests. The High Commissioner of the Pacific group, includin'? the Falkland }.-lands, will be stationed at Suva. September 14. Tim Colonial Office denies the statement that the lalklnnd, Fiji, and other islands in the Pacific will be included under a High Commissioner at Suva, and points out that visits to the Falkland Islands would involve travelling via England. Other newspaper statements relative t:> the grouping of Crown colonies are inaccurate. The whole scheme is not yet formulated.
