ASTRONOMICAL NOTES FOR JULY.
THE SUN. Tho sun’s path for the month of July will be through the constellations of Gemini and Cancer, in right ascension from 6.39.30 to 8.40.28, in north declination from 23.8.10 to 18.20.56, and in longitude from 99.4.28 to 127.42.21. The. earth is in aphelion on the 3rd, being at its greatest distance from the sun in its elliptical orbit on that date. THE MOON. * «* The phases of the moon will be as follow : New moon ... 6th 1.6 a.m. First quarter ... 12th 3.46 p.m. Full moon 20th 11.38 a.m. Last quarter ... 28th 1.50 p.m. Perigee ... 7th 0.24 a.m. Apogee ... 21st 9.48 p.m. THE PLANETS. Mercury will be in R. A. from 7.21.34 to 7.18.50 and in'north declination from 18.31.19 to 20.51.49. It will be in conjunction with the moon on the sth and with the sun of the 7th. It will be at its greatest Hoi. Lat. south on the 17th, and at its greatest elongation (19.40 W.) on the 28th. Venus will be in R.A. from 3.27.30 to 5.35.55. and jn north declination from 15.30.29 to 20.56.31. It will be in conjunction with tho moon on the Ist and on the 31st. It will be at its greatest elongation 45.44 W.) on the Ist. and at its greatest Hel. I,at. south on the 15rh. Mars will be in R.A. from 6.36.56 to 8.1.37 and in north declination from 24.1.50 to 21.33.19. It will he in conjunction with the moon on the 4th. Jupiter will be in R.A. from 11.0.18 to 11.18.46, and in north declination from 7.3T50 to 5.39 9. It will be in conjunction with the moon on the 9th. Saturn will be in R.A. from 11.24 25 to 11.33 41. and in north declination from 6 9.36 to 5.5.50. It will be in conjunction v-’th the moon on the 9th.
