CLAIMS AGAINST JOCKEYS.
AUCKLAND, June 21. In the Magistrate’s Court the New Zealand Jockeys’ Association claimed from four jockeys—A. J. M‘Flynn, L. G. Morris, B. H. Morris, and R. Hatch —sums ranging from £35 16s 9d to £7 10s 6d, subscriptions and percentages of riding moneys earned during the last six months. The defendants claimed that they were absolved from liability because each had given notice of resignation from the association six months previously. But at the time of the expiration of six months they had not paid the amounts of subscriptions due on the date of their resignations; and it was stated that counsel for defendants had advised them that such moneys .not having' been paid their resignations became negative. The case, therefore, was adjourned that the claim in each case may be paid.
