The monthly meeting, held on Friday ’ was presided over by Or Walter Blackie, all the councillors being present. REPORTS. Tho Finance Committee reported the rece.pts for the past month to have boon £lßl 10s 4d, and recommended for payment accounts totalling £1387 5s 9d. The Lank book showed a credit balance of £2510 9a 2d.—Adopted. The Sanitary Inspector reported that all the slaughterhouses in the county were in good condition. T lie piggery at Green Island was in a clean state, but the one at Burnside was not. r l lie pigs were allowed to run around the stye, and after the recent rains this caused a lot of mire.— Received. The Ranger reported having impounded 17 head of cattle. lie had secured convictions. against five offenders at the Magistrate s Court. Middlernarch, on the 39th uit. lie drew atteniion to overhanging willows on Silverstream. lie notified tho council that some pigs were running ou an unused road at Silverside.—Report adopted; Silverside road to be attended to during the month. CORRESPONDENCE. John Roberts, Dunedin, applied for permission to remove some turf from the roadside on the North Taieri road. —Approved. Jessie Dodds, Dunedin, wrote regarding tho formation of the road on Tapuka avenue. —Referred to member for tho riding. John Black, Giad’orook. wroto with reference to the raising of the road afbng tha back of his property and widening of watercourses.—Engineer to report. Burnett Bros., Middlernarch, applied for a culvert to be put in on a road which rail through their property.—Referred to engineer for report, Andrew Carruthers, Ngapuna, drew attention to the necessity of enlarging culvert through which the creek ran into section 43. block V, Strath-Taieri.—Engineer to report. The Engineer mentioned the repairs to the gap in the East Taieri river embankment.—Chairman to confer with those interested. The procuring of a -site for a hut for flic- county surfaceman in Deep.-tream Riding was left to Cr Doherty and the engineer to arrange for. A circular was read from the Publio Works Department • regarding application for grants for roads, etc. —It was resolved* to ask for all unexpended grants to be renewed. The Engineer submitted a copy of the Otago Qunrrv Owners’ comments on proposed regulations under the Stone Quarries Act. 1910. Received On Cr Kempshell’s motion, it was resolved to take the gravel necessary for John Miller’s load under the Public Works Act.
