NEW ZIiAEAMJ BRANCH INVESTMENTS. WELLINGTON, June £l2. At a meeting of the executive of the New Zealand branch of the British Red Cross and the Order of St. John it was decided to deposit £25,000 of the £30,000 now in the Post Office Savings Bank for two years at interest, placing £SOOO in each of the following banks: —New Zealand, Union, National, Australasia, and New South Wales, leaving £SOOO available for immediate needs in th© Post Office Savings Bank. The chairman (Dr Collins) said interest at 1 per cent, would more than pay the whole of the headquarters expenses. Lady I.tike staled that each of the five banks” had stood loyally by the society during the year. It was decided that the work of the Salvation Army, Y.M.0.A., and Red Gross, regarding comforts for soldier patients, should be co-ordinated. It was decided to extend until July 11 the date for receiving applications for travelliiur scholarships, which will !>e awarded on Jufv 13. The nurse chosen will leave in August for the Old Country.
