MISSING HOSPITAL MATRON

CARTERTON, June 1,0. Matron Alary Lindsay, of South Waira-l-apa Hospital, Greytown, disappeared last evening, and considerable anxiety is felt for her safety. It is leported that she had been ailing for some time past. Towards nightfall she was missed, and an immediate search made. This continued all night unsuccessfully, and about 6 o’clock this morning [he firobell was rung to assemble the people and to form further search parties. The missing lady is dressed only in her nightclothes, slippers, and wrapper. The night was bitterly cold, with a heavy frost. 1 he search has been continued so far without result. June 11. The search was continued unsuccessfully throughout last night for Alary Lindsay, matron of the Greytown Hospital. Search parties are now organised in Greytown, Carterton, and Alasterton, and the whole countryside is being thoroughly scoured. The theory is expressed that she was picked up by a passing motor car in Greytown on Thursday night, and conveyed to tho north. The police request that any motorist so doing 'till communicate with them. The missing lady is a daughter of Air Lindsay, of Palmerston North, and is described as 23 years of age. with light auburn hair, fairly tall and sight, wearing a nightdress, blue dressing gown, and light slippers. She qualified at Invercargill Hospital in 1916, was appointed nurse at Greytown Hospital in 1917, and matron in September, 1920.
